How long do hematology results take?
Most routine hematology results — CBC, ESR, blood group — are available within 12 hours of sample collection. Haemoglobin electrophoresis may take 2–3 days. We will confirm the timeline when you book.
Do I need to fast for a blood test?
Most hematology tests — CBC, ESR, blood group — do not require fasting. Blood glucose tests (fasting sugar) do. We will confirm preparation requirements when you book your tests.
Can a CBC detect cancer?
A CBC can detect certain types of blood cancer (leukaemia, lymphoma) by showing abnormal white cell counts or abnormal cells on smear. It is also used to detect anaemia that may be a symptom of other cancers. However, a normal CBC does not rule out all cancers — many solid tumours do not affect the blood count until advanced stages.
