FNAC uses a very fine needle — similar to a blood test needle. Most patients experience only mild discomfort during the procedure, which takes a few minutes. No stitches, no hospitalisation, no recovery time needed.
How long do cytology results take?+
FNAC results are typically available within 24 hours. PAP smear results within 24 hours. Fluid cytology 24 hours. We will confirm the timeline when you book.
I have a lump — do I need FNAC or biopsy?+
FNAC is usually the first step — it gives a preliminary diagnosis without surgery. Depending on the FNAC result, a formal biopsy may or may not be recommended. Dr. Raashi Sobti's FNAC report will guide your treating doctor on whether further investigation is needed.
The PAP smear came back abnormal. What does that mean?+
An abnormal PAP smear does not mean cancer — it means some cells look different from normal. The report will classify the abnormality (mild, moderate, severe dysplasia) and recommend next steps. Many abnormal results are due to inflammation and resolve on their own or with simple treatment. Your doctor will advise based on the specific report.
